Glad you’re here!
I’m Anna, the girl behind a farm girl’s perspective.
I enjoy putting out simple & straightforward information when it comes to canning and preserving garden produce + sharing delicious from-scratch recipes using seasonal foods and basic ingredients. When gathering information, people sometimes put things out to be difficult. Or there is so much information that it makes you not bother even starting. I’m not saying I have all the answers and that I know best, but I just want to show others in a basic way things that I wish I had known when I first started with gardening and canning. My goal is to show people that you can still get fantastic results with a simple way of doing something, whether it’s making sourdough bread, canning tomatoes, or growing cabbage for sauerkraut.
Even though I’ve always been on a farm, I’m always learning. I was constantly gathering information from everywhere- hoping to find the most practical and productive methods. Trying to find a recipe that didn’t require you to be in the kitchen all day, and still tasted amazing. (truth be told, I used to HATE cooking) Or how to plan out and start your whole garden from seed, and make it successful, and then how to use all those vegetables in a variety of dishes.
It takes a lot of time to search around and find reliable and proven sources- you get what I mean. My hope is to save you some of that time as this website becomes a hub of useful and easy-to-follow information on from-scratch recipes, gardening, & canning! I genuinely enjoy our way of life in the country and feel blessed to be sharing these things with y’all.
Random facts about me:
I was homeschooled, and have 5 siblings.
I now raise a breed of dog that I’ve loved since I was 6 years old- Australian Shepherds!
I was born in Florida and grew up roaming the 800-acre family farm. So yes I’m a swamp/water girl at heart.
When I was 9, I milked a cow and 3 goats in the mornings.
I’ve bottle-fed puppies, kittens, piglets, lambs, baby goats, and calves- and still do! I really enjoy working with the farm animals, even though I don’t show much of that here.
I and my partner-in-crime sister swam down a canal with weeds on our heads because we were trying to spy on and find out where our duck was making a nest! Thankfully we weren’t bothered by any alligators, but we did pull off some leeches afterward!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” John 3:16
